Kees van der Leun has been an energy transition consultant for over 35 years, after joining the start-up Ecofys in 1986.
In 2021, he co-founded the new consultancy Common Futures. The growing team fully focusses on energy system optimisation, with special attention for the integration of offshore wind, energy system aspects of the energy transition in buildings, and the role that renewable gases can play. Kees’ recent projects include work on an energy infrastructure plan for the North Sea, sector coupling, energy hubs, system integration of offshore wind farms, and how energy efficiency can reduce the need for grid expansion.
